Coral Cove IV

Dana Point, CA

This rustic modern home takes its inspiration from the design and architecture found in California's wine country. The elegance of the structure, with its simple roof forms and natural, weathered cedar plank siding evokes a rural agrarian vernacular architecture while being juxtaposed with modern detailing which reveals the intentionality behind each minimal gesture. The overall design intent for this residence was to maximize the view potential from the home by raising the primary living spaces above the natural grade. The split-level design features an entry courtyard that provides daylight for the subterranean garage and living spaces while creating a dramatic approach that bridges over the canopy of the specimen tree below.
